The middle-aged man was about plunging into the lagoon when the officers on patrol at the area came to rescue him and took him to Adekunle Police station for interrogation.

The reason behind the suicide attempt is not yet known as the man who was well dressed looked depressed after he was rescued by the police officers.

The incident occurred just a few months after a journalist of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) also jumped into the lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Despite that the RRS officers rushed to the scene, it was impossible to save the life of the journalist as it was too late.
