Prevent stroke with these 10 actions
Considered one of the most feared diseases today, stroke (CVD) was the fourth cause of death in Nigeria in 2015 and the first to incapacitate. In that same year, 100,520 people died of the disease, 4,592 of whom are under 45 years of age.
According to the Nigerian Association of Neurology, it can and should be avoided with some simple habits changes, some of them being adopted by the Ministry of Health that is withdrawing from the market compromising foods. The target is that by 2020, 28,652 tonnes of sodium should be withdrawn from processed foods.
Simple actions that people can take to avoid the disease include:
1. High blood pressure control
For people suffering from this evil, control will be critical to avoiding a stroke. The doctor will know the right medicine, as well as other actions that may help control it.
2. Moderate physical exercise
When done at least 5 times a week, it is easier to avoid the disease. Running is the experts’ favorite.
3. Diet control

6. Avoid smoking
Even for non-smokers, exposure to smoke is also harmful. Avoiding smoke-filled places and quitting addiction will help prevent stroke.
7. Reduce alcohol consumption

8. Caring for atrial fibrillation
