However, dailyfamily.ng gathered that the officials were sent back from doing so by some private schools.

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Ikeja Local Government Health Center, Mrs. Kushimo told our reporter that some private schools did not allow their pupils to be immunized.

Mrs. Kushimo said: “There has been an improvement in the responses but there are some schools that are rejecting the immunization. Those that have been sent out said some of the schools are not allowing them to immunize the children.”

She added: “Today, I received a report that some private schools in Bashiru Owe area of Ikeja, Lagos rejected the immunization process. The schools feared that the immunization would spread monkeypox.”

The Chief Nursing Officer explained that those sent out to immunize the children tried persuading the school authorities.

She said: “our team tried to persuade them and even told them to write a notice to the parents of the pupils at home so that the parents can give their consent.”
