Tiredness can mostly be referred to as fatigue and there can be many factors associated with you feeling tired all the time. The reason could be mild and it can be a serious case.

It is better to differentiate tiredness from lack of sleep from that of stress or other serious issues. Tiredness as a result of fatigue could be mental, physical or both.

 

Here are some major causes of fatigue

1. Lack of sleep: in a situation where you cannot sleep at all due to insomnia or you are having little sleep, they can both lead to fatigue. The number of hours individual needs to sleep depends on the age, babies need about 16 hours while adults need 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep at night.

2. Anaemia: anaemia is one of the top causes of feeling constantly run-down. It happens when the body doesn’t have enough red blood cells to carry sufficient oxygen to your tissues and organs. It’s easily diagnosed with a blood test.

3. Dehydration: getting the body always well hydrated is paramount to preventing tiredness. The human brain consists of about 85% water and this level needs to be maintained in order to perform its essential functions. If the brain is not getting enough water it gets it from the blood to compensate for it. This leads to drop in oxygen level in the blood, reducing energizing oxygen available to tissues and organs thereby causing fatigue.

4. Lack of exercise: exercise has an energizing effect on the body system. Moving your body releases endorphins, help increase heart rate and boosts your concentration. Make exercise part of your everyday routine

5. Poor Diet: the kind of food you eat plays a very important role in your overall health. To get the best out of the food you eat, make sure you prepare your own food by yourself. Eat all the classes of foods in their right proportion. Take more of raw vegetables and fruits. Don’t feed on junks.

6. Depression: depression is a common mental health disorder which is marked by persistent feelings of sadness and unhappiness but has physical symptoms as well.

7. It could also be due to health challenges like diabetes, heart diseases etc.

8. It could also be that you have children to take care of and the stress it taking its toll on you.

How to fix tiredness

1. Take enough water daily, never wait until you are dehydrated before you drink water

2. Improve your diet by eating a balanced diet which will help increase your energy level.

3. Get a good night’s sleep. It will help a great deal in controlling fatigue. Eliminate every sound and light disturbance, don’t eat just before you go to bed and use only your bed to sleep

4. Exercise regularly and let it be a vigorous exercise. Make it at least 30 minutes three times a day. Exercise releases endorphins in your brain that make you feel better and give you more strength mentally and physically to face anything that life throws at you.

5. Shed some weight: you will need to lose weight which will help provides a powerful energy boost. A small reduction in body fat improves mood and general well being

6. Ginseng. Ginseng is an age-old energy booster. This root has a sweet, licorice-like taste and has been used for thousands of years to treat weakness and exhaustion.

7. Instead of taking the normal beverages, take green or ginger tea with honey, do away with sugar. You can take turmeric too and apple cider vinegar is also good for all-round health. It relaxes the nerves.
