The present state of the Economy of Nigeria is one of the reasons why some men are reluctant to go into marriage in Lagos.

Suitors are not forthcoming for ladies and most ladies that are between the ages of 35 to 40 years are under intense pressure from their families to get married. Why most men are reluctant about marriage because the future is not really certain economically.

The fear of most men in Lagos is that they may not be able to cope with the financial obligations marriage brings.

Some women within the age range that are pressurized for marriage due to their ages confirmed that the pressure comes mostly from their parents as they have not met their expectations.

Some women have been duped by men who pretended to be interested in marrying them but then abscond later with their money. It has been gathered that the increase in the level of failed marriages around is a source of fear for singles.

Contributing to delay in marriages is the cost of getting married in Nigeria generally as tradition demands. Some men cannot afford to pay bride price as it is very expensive in some state in Nigeria.

Another factor that affects singles in Lagos is how to make ends meet and cater for their marriages.
