The federal house of representative has approved June 12 to be marked as Democracy day in Nigeria.
This came after the adoption of reports of a bill for the amendment of the Public Holiday Act 2004.

Based on the report at the plenary today, the lawmakers approved the amendments to three clauses in the Act, as recommended in the report.
One of the clauses deleted May 29 as Democracy Day and replaced the date with June 12.
