The bill seeking to criminalize estimated billing in Nigeria has been passed by the lower legislative chamber.
The reps passed the bill yesterday after considering the report from the house committee on power sector.
The report was unanimously adopted after a voice vote in the plenary yesterday.

The bill sought to mandate the installation of prepaid meters for every user and criminalize the estimated billing
The estimated billing is a regular practice in Nigeria, where power operators randomly charge user monthly for usage of power.
The majority leader and sponsor of the bill, Femi Gbajabiamila said that it was unjust to continue charging people for what is not consumed.
