The high rate of Cholera epidemic in North-East, Nigeria is alarming as 35 people have been reportedly died of a cholera outbreak in the region.

According to local health officials in a statement in Borno state “The number of deaths reported is 35. The total number of suspected cholera cases is now 1,283″.

Most of the affected people are from Muna Garage camp on the outskirts of the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, which houses some 20,000 people who have fled the Boko Haram conflict.

In Sprawling Camp, where internally displaced people (IDPs) are living, a total number of 775 infections has been recorded.

Lack of adequate sanitation for the camp dwellers during a raining season which leads to Water-borne diseases are the constant threat because poor drainage causes stagnant pools to form.

It could be recalled that State health officials announced on September 3 that 14 people had died from 186 suspected cases of cholera in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Two days later, it was reported that the death toll raised to 21 from 375 infections
