Sadden: Lassa Fever hit Ogun State one confirmed, 66 under watch
The Ogun State government urged residents to take the issue of both environmental and personal hygiene seriously after it confirmed a case of Lassa Fever in the state.
In a statement by the State Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye in Abeokuta during a Press Conference made this known.
The Commissioner further highlighted steps that the government has taken to prevent the deadly disease from spreading.
Speaking on the state of health of the confirmed Lassa fever patient, Ipaye stated that the 20-year old Lassa fever patient is under medical observation at the State General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta and he’s been responding to treatment.
Ipaye also disclosed that they have identified 66 persons who have contacts with the victims and they are presently under monitoring.
However, the commissioner has assured residents to be calm, noting that the state has two isolation centres prepared to cater for such situation and the state will soon be free of Lassa fever.
