A 48-year-old woman, Aisha Usman has been given another reason to live longer after she was successfully rescued by the Kano state fire service after she accidentally fell into a collapsed pit latrine in her residence on Sunday.
Speaking on Monday about the incidence, the Public Relations Officer of the service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, disclosed to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred while the woman was trying to use the rest room at her residence in Sharifawa in Gaya Local Government Area of the state.
Mohammed disclosed that the service got a distress call from a relative who reported the incident at about 6:45pm on Sunday after which their response to action.
“Upon receiving the information, we quickly dispatched our rescue team and a vehicle to the scene at about 7 p.m.”
The Public Relations officer expressed joy that the woman never sustained any injury.
“We rescued the woman and handed her over to the husband.”
Mohammed advised that residents should be cautious while using pit latrines to avoid future occurrence.
