The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, who paraded the cleric yesterday in Ota Ogun state, disclosed that the arrested 77-year-old prophet, Babatunde, is the founder of a white garment Church at Itedo Isinmi Ayo Parish, Egan Road in Iyana-Iyesi area of Ota in Ogun state.
According to a source; “I don’t know much. All we heard is that they caught the person that stole the baby who later confessed that they gave the baby to the pastor who uses it, that is not their first work with the pastor. That is all I heard but people close to me saw him when he was led out by the police with the dead baby in his hand wrapped with white cloth“
The Nigerian Police command boss, taking the newsmen around the Church’s premises, said the discovery of the incident followed the arrest, on Saturday, of a suspected serial kidnapper name as, Adeola. The prophet (2nd left), the kidnapper (2nd right) and other suspects.
The Nigeria Police command in Ogun state stated that According to Iliyasu, Adeola, 32, who specialises in kidnapping children, confessed that the prophet of the white garment church was the receiver of the abducted children he usually kidnapped.
The Police Commissioner also added that a 43-year-old herbalist, Afolabi, was among the suspects, who allegedly buried the human parts at the entrance of the church for the prophet( the leader of the church).
He said: “Police operatives attached to the Area Command in Ota in Ogun state, on Sunday, received technical intelligence report about Adeola and immediately apprehended him.
“On the strength of the intelligence response, detectives from Ota police area command got detailed informantion and led a team to arrest the suspect.”
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a serial kidnapper .
upon his confession, he was taken to the house and the church of the said prophet at Iyana-Iyesi Ota area of ogun state, where one Prophet Babatunde, 77, a pastor in charge of the church and one Afolabi, 42, a traditional worshipper in the chuch were arrested both with the kidnapper.
The police ordered that the floor of the church be dug based on the confession “The floor of the church was dug up as described by the first suspect, and parts suspected to be human parts were found.”
The Commissioner of police said the Command will conduct forensic investigation into the case and assured that all those found guilty of the crime will be brought to justice as he assured everyone present at the scene. he said the prophet who was also the pastor head of the church said ” he only buried a pig in his church as everyone was amazed to have human body part being dug out from the ground of the church, the prophet denied the allegation, denying that a pig was buried alive inside the church contrary to claims that human parts were buried there.
The pastor later explained that he carried out the act to bring good fortune, prosperity and comfort to the congregation member of the church. The embattled cleric prophet, who revealed that he founded the church in 2005 and had since being the head pastor, expressed regret over the incident, which he blamed on the devil action.
The cleric pastor Babatunde said though he met Adeola at a prayer mountain sometimes ago in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, said he had never had any ritual dealing with the alleged serial kidnapper before, and he is accused of mental instability he said.
He’s lying— said the Kidnapper But Adeola insisted that the pastor was the receiver of some kidnapped children, disclosing that the pastor paid him N50,000 each for the two children he supplied to him.
The suspect arrested also said one Olaniyi, still on the run, introduced him to the business of kidnapping in 2013 in Ibadan Oyo state, where they used a commercial vehicle for their wicked acts he said.
