Spiritual forces not responsible for road crashes- FRSC Boss
Many Nigerians always have the mindset that Ember months are evil months which are loaded with various road accidents.
Nigerian have been called upon to disabuse their mindset from attaching spiritual connotations to the alarming increase in road crashes during the Ember Months.
The Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Sunday Ajayi said reckless driving, impatience and get quick rich syndrome were major causes of road crashes during festivities.
Mr. Ajayi who disclosed this during a press briefing, said FRSC to begin the 2017 Road Safety Week with the theme, “Slow Down, Save a Life”
He pleaded with the public to make safety their watch-word.
“People should stop this idea of alluding rampant accidents during the Ember month to spiritual forces. It is not true. reckless drivers and impatience commuters are responsible. They are always in a hurry to make huge returns,” he stated.
The FRSC boss said the essence of organising the Road Safety Week was to consolidate on the existing collaborations and support with all concerned stakeholders.
He emphasised that the command had made tremendous progress from what was recorded in 2015 and 2016.
‘Speed thrills but kills. Maximum speed limit 80k/h for a bus while 100 is for a car,’ Ajayi said.
He commended the Anambra State Government for its support to the command.
The celebration featured road rally with the motorists, public lecture, visitation to accident victims, among others.
