Stop rejecting corps members at their place of primary assignment (PPA_) – Says, Akeredolu

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN of Ondo state urged private sectors, government ministries and agencies to stop rejecting corps members in their primary place of assignment.

The Governor equally called on them to give the corps members challenging assignments as a way of making them fully incorporated into the process of nation building and able to contribute their quota to the development of Ondo State.

Arakunrin Akeredolu disclosed this during his goodwill address at the closing ceremony of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation programme for corps members deployed to Ondo State at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare Akoko on Tuesday.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Sunday Abegunde, said his administration would continue to do its best till infrastructures in the camp are upgraded to make it an ideal one.

The governor who said he was well aware of the challenges facing the NYSC Scheme in the state declared that the challenges will soon become a thing of the past as government is ever committed to supporting the scheme.

He charged corps employers in the state, the chairmen of the 18 local governments in the state as well as traditional rulers to give the corps members adequate care and protection as they give their permanent staff so that they can perform optimally and also to assist in the ongoing renovation of facilities at the camp.

He enjoined all the corps members to shun all vices such as Internet fraud, drug addiction, cultism, prostitution and others capable of diminishing their social values.

The governor urged them to embrace the federal government’s “Change begins with me” programme as a way of joining the fight against corruption which has continued to be a serious challenge to the nation.
