The snake was found by wildlife biologists at the Collier Seminole State Park, what the python swallowed was found out by the researchers when it started throwing out the white-tailed deer fawn.
One of the biologists, Ian Bartoszek, spoke with Naples Daily News that the snake swallowed a deer that weighed 35 pounds and its own size was 31.5 pounds.
The researchers regarded the discovery as strange. Bartoszek explained their bewilderment, he said: “We were sitting there just trying to process that an animal this size could get its head around what turned out to be a deer.” He added: “It’s surreal to see that in the field.”
The researchers claim that the predator-to-prey size was surprising as the snake swallowed a deer that was meant to be meat for wild cats.
