Tears, sorrow as accident claims two lives

Tears flowed freely in the early hours of Sunday when two vehicles, A Danfo conveying vegetable oil and a Tipper lorry laden with gravel collided along Oshodi-Apapa highway leading to the death of two unnamed persons while several sustained injuries.
According to an onlooker, the two drivers were injured, a conductor died immediately, and then a truck driver and two motor boys were trapped inside the vehicle for over 30 minutes before being rescued by emergency workers from the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire Service and other agencies, which mobilised to the scene.
“The police really tried, they were there to rescue the victim and they also evacuated both driver and motor boy before the Lagos State Ambulance service (LASAMBUS) rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.” Said onlooker
In a similar vein, another truck coming with speed ran into a policeman and a Danfo filled to capacity with people at the same spot of the earlier accident.
The accident caused a heavy traffic gridlock on the busy highway.
