Three days mourning declared in Benue as government holds mass burial

A 3-day mourning period has been declared by the Benue State government for the victims that were killed in the recent attacks in the State.

Those killed in the recent attacks on communities in Logo and Guma Local Government Areas of the state will be buried on the 11th of January 2018.

Mr Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, announced the statement which was signed by him today, 8th January 2018.

Mr Terver Akase said: “The mourning period will be from Tuesday to Thursday this week and end with a church service for the victims at the IBB square in Makurdi, followed by mass burial.”

The state government has ordered that all flags must be flown at half-mast and that work would close by 1:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday; while the day of the burial of the victims has been announced to be a work-free day in Benue State.
