TRAGIC: Abubakar Family Lost Two Children To Poison In Kogi
It was such a sad moment at Kogi State in the family of Abubakar as two of their children by the name Mohammed Kudu Abubakar and Umar Tanko Abubakar were poisoned by a herbalist named Ibrahim Muhammed.
The herbalist has been sentenced to death by handing by a High Court on Monday, sitting in Koton-Karfi in Kogi State.
The herbalist who was charged with robbery and culpable homicide was said to have robbed Mohammed Kudu Abubakar and Umar Tanko Abubakar of a Toyota Carina E Wagon and later poisoned, killed and buried them.
While giving his judgement, the Presiding Judge of the High Court, Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, said, “The manner you committed it by your own description, make it a high-level exceptional wickedness that it can only be properly marked by death sentence”
The Judge Said: “I hold that after poisoning the two brothers as the accused confessed in his downright criminality, he hit their heads with pestle (Exhibit P7) to hasten their annihilation.
And, in order to avoid any trail, he buried the bodies of the to brothers in his compound. Unfortunately for him, nemesis caught up with him.
Due to the application of an unusual but good investigation, the Special Anti-Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police, Kogi State, exposed the hidden crime.
By your own word, after poisoning both Tanko and Mohammed and they refused to die, you used a pestle to hit them on their heads. That was a brutal homicide committed with determination and ruthlessness.
The manner you committed it by your own description, make it a high-level exceptional wickedness that it can only be properly marked by death sentence, which is the only sentence I can pass on you.”
The herbalist was charged with robbery and culpable homicide. He committed the offence sometime in January, 2016 at Kungbani.
