You must have made the mistake of addressing a woman wrongly before because you couldn’t choose the right title to use.

This is not new as it happens often especially if you don’t know if the woman is married or not. Here is how to understand the use of Miss, Ms, and Mrs.

This is how to use Miss, Ms, and Mrs rightly:

Miss

Miss is a title meant for young girls or women who are not yet married. This should be used when addressing them fully with their names and surnames or in an official letter.

You can use Miss to attract the attention of a young woman you don’t know her name.

Mrs

Mrs is a title used generally for married women.

It is used mostly with the husband‘s surname.
