An unemployed man, Isaac Elegbede, has allegedly beaten his 60-year-old landlady to a pulp on Thursday for asking him for electricity money
The unemployed 30-year-old man who resides at 45, Orile Agege Road, Agege, was arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of assault and causing a breach of peace.
Insp. Rachael Williams who is the Police officer in charge of the case said the accused committed the offences on July 17 at the accused’s apartment.
According to Williams, the accused allegedly beat up his landlady, Mrs. Jumoke Durashola, after an argument ensued over electricity bills.
“The accused beat the 60-year-old woman and she became unconscious in the process.
“If not for the intervention of other tenants, it would have been another story,’’ she said.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The accused was granted bail by The Magistrate, Mrs. L. Y. Balogun in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 14 for a mention.
