A Professor from the University of Benin, Prof Paul Otasowie of the Department of Engineering has been killed by unknown gunmen late Wednesday night.

Eyewitnesses privy to the incident said there had been a failed kidnapping attempt before his eventual death.

Reports gathered revealed that Professor Otasowie, who was also a past director of  UBIT/SIWES of the University of Benin was shot and killed by unknown gunmen as he entered his house in the Ekehuan area of Benin City, Edo state.

Some of his friends who confirmed the incident said he was shot by suspected armed robbers while entering into his house, while one Amafe Jessica, a colleague to the late professor said she is thinking of relocating due to the incessant killing in the state.

If you will recall a Nigerian Veteran Musician, Ambassador Osayomore Joseph has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen who left his wife also with gunshot wounds.

Ambassador Joseph was also reportedly kidnapped at his residence at Orovie village, Upper Ekenhuan road, Benin City, the Edo State capital on the night of Tuesday, the 3rd of October, 2017.

The incessant kidnap and killing in Edo state seem to be on the rise. It will be well thought of in the interest of the security of the nation that security operatives focus their searchlight on the state so as to unveil perpetrators of these heinous act.
