According to the director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the suspect has been on the wanted list of the security agencies in Kaduna State for a long time.

Usman explained that the clearance operation was done by the troops because of the disturbing resurgence of armed banditry and kidnappings along Abuja-Kaduna road.

The spokesman said before they could dismantle the three armed bandits, an ambush was mounted by the troops on the border between Zamfara and Kebbi. He said a lot of things were recovered from the three armed bandits including a motorcycle, 25 goats, 134 cows and 13 sheep.
