What It Means When You Gain Weight In Your Marriage
There were many nights with friends, a long time single and many meetings with the boys. All this ended until you found a cool guy, unlike the others, and decided to engage in a serious relationship with him.
Now, after several goodies, romantic dinners, you noticed that your pants are tight at the waist, it means you are getting fat.
And it was not just you! You may not have commented on it, but apparently your partner is also a bit chubbyer than when you first met him.
Is this a sign that you do not care about each other anymore? None of this! In fact, those extra pounds simply mean that you are happy!
Quilos of love and happiness
If you have identified yourself with the above situation, know that you are not the first or the last person in the world to gain weight after finding love. And if that was already part of popular wisdom, a study conducted by the US National Center for Biotechnology has proven this phenomenon scientifically.
The survey, which was published in 2013, tracked 169 newly married couples over four years, noting the weight of the participants and their feelings about the union. The result was that the more chubby couples stayed together, while the more fitness couples showed a greater tendency to break the relationship.
The reason for this? Scientists imagine that when two people are happy in a relationship, they do not have to work so hard to stay in shape and win the partner’s affection. After all, they feel secure with each other, allowing themselves to eat a little more and exercise a little less.
On the other hand, in the case of couples who broke up, the partners already had a tendency to take care of the silhouette, as if they wanted to ensure that they would be fit to “go back to the market”.
Even though having gained a few pounds means that you are comfortable with each other, a very significant weight gain is extremely detrimental to your health.
In this way, it is clear that it is still important to worry about maintaining a healthy weight according to the biotype of each one. After all, being overweight increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and even some types of cancer.
However, for the relationship to be long lasting and happy, it is more interesting for partners to do so by thinking about their health, not just their image or their power of attraction.
While the study has found a relationship between partners who are very concerned about maintaining the form and the tendency to end the relationship, this is not necessarily a rule.
Does your partner worry about form by thinking about attracting new looks or is he just taking care of his own health? Think of this reasoning for yourself as well – after all, we do not want to lose weight just to get a new love.
If you feel that you are both too chubby, maybe even starting to hurt your health, how about you find a physical activity to do together? This may be a good idea to keep fit and united.
