What Nigerian famous singer, 2face’s wife says about her marriage will shock you
These couples are unarguably the biggest marital surprise to behold the Nigerian entertainment industry.
These two lovebirds shocked the industry and millions of Nigerians a few years ago when they decided to tie the nuptial knot.
Even with the promiscuous nature of Tuface in the initial part of his career, many didn’t believe that the chicken that was let loose at the village square would one day return to its owner.
But as God will have it, Innocent Ujah Idibia (Aka Tuface) finally married his girlfriend and baby mama of 13 years, on March 24, 2013.
With several rumors about women hovering around Tuface, his numerous children for different women, many saw the possibility of divorce but were disappointed with the outcome, as Tuface and Annie have continued to grow in love, solving and managing their differences, training their children and managing their fame maturely in the midst of the controversies.
When asked why he chose Annie Macauley, over and above Pero and Sumbo, who are also mothers of his children. Tuface had this to say “I think it’s about time, I have known Annie for over 12 years, some things just made me realize that this is my woman and I couldn’t deny it anymore. All my women are very respectable. I can’t answer that question because I have already proposed to who I want to be with and I won’t want to create any type of answer that will be odd. Of course, Annie and I are soulmates. We are mature people and I know that they understand my decision. Did I tell them about the decision? Of course, yes.
As a testament to his musical prowess and adeptness in the ‘other room,’ the bald-headed singer has notched several national, continental and international awards, and also fathered seven children. He is unarguably the most sought-after Nigerian musician with numerous songs and music videos. Tuface started his music career in the year 1996 with the defunct Plantianshun Boyz Group. He went solo after the disbandment of Plantashun Boyz in 2004, and all band members sought separate musical careers. 2face Idibia released his debut solo album Face 2 Face (2004), which established him as a viable solo artist.
Following the release of his debut album, he released his second album Grass 2 Grace in 2006, which contained hits “One Love”, “True Love, “4 Instance”. He is the founder of Hypertek Entertainment.
On the other hand, Annie Macauley is a renowned Nigerian model, presenter, and actress. She actually came into limelight way before Tuface, but continuously supported the Tuface brand from day one. Rumours have it that she sponsored most of Tuface’s studio bills and recording fees just to see that Tuface moved on after the split of the Plantashaun Boyz group in 2004.
In a revealing interview, she granted Jara, a TV programme on Africa Magic channel on DSTV, the singer’s wife reconstructed the scenario of how Tuface proposed to her and why he chose her among the other women in his life. In her words: “He called me up one morning that I should meet him in Lagos so that we can hang out. He said his friends are around and they want to take us out. So, I agreed to see him. I remember it was a particular friend of ours that was around that day, although I would not like to mention his name.
“And when I got to Lagos that day, he was like ‘let’s go to the club.’ When we got to the club, the place was totally empty. Obviously confused, I asked him, “baby, what are we doing here, it’s empty” and before I turned back, my brothers and friends showed up. I was so perplexed that I had to ask what everybody was doing around there and they said they heard we were there and they came.
“Just about few minutes after, Tuface picked up the microphone and I thought he was going to do all the normal hypes he does when he goes to the club. But he shocked me. He started saying things about how I have always been there for him since day one. How I have sacrificed a lot for him. How I have cried and stood strong during his trying moments.
The truth is, he said so many things I can’t remember now. He said so many wonderful things that sent me into another world and I couldn’t even hear the other things he said.
“I didn’t even know when he walked up to me and he said, “Please, will you marry me?” And I was like, “Can you imagine? What’s going on here?” he was saying so many things that I can’t even remember. It all blew my head.
In a recent interview with Planet TV, when she was asked what has sustained her marriage so far to the African Queen crooner, 2face, she confirmed that they quarrel like every other couple, but it would not prevent them from sleeping on the same bed at night. “The truth is the way love is, it becomes a choice afterwards, if you’ve chosen to be committed to a person, you’ve got to stay that way. Yes, we fight, when I say fight not physical fight, but we talk about it and settle it because we know that we are going to sleep in the same room at night, we never sleep in different rooms,” she said
For Annie, communication with your partner after a misunderstanding is key; therefore she ensures that they talk about their differences and resolve it before going to bed. She emphasized that irrespective of the gravity of the quarrels, they would never sleep in different rooms.
