Woman drowns in canal 4 months to wedding

It was a bundle of grief, leading to a heartbreaking moment as a 31-year-old woman, Miss Olivia Uchechi, who was set to walk the aisle in four months got drowned in a canal in the Anambra community of Uke.

Reports gathered revealed that the ugly incident took place on Sunday, September 3, after Miss Uchechi, a member of Adoration Ministry left the church premises in the middle of service to urinate by a canal close-by but got drowned, unfortunately.

One Robert Agu, a resident in Uke community said.

“She had left the church in the middle of Sunday service to answer the call of nature when she slipped into the water-logged canal.

In a bid to unravel the sudden mystery of her disappearance, it was reported that shocked residents combed the nooks and cranny of the community and the canal for her whereabouts, all to no avail.

They continued their search for her whereabouts till her over-bloated body was found the next day. She was found with the dress she wore to church. Her tragic death is unfortunate because her wedding has been slated for December.

Information gathered as at press time revealed that her remains were laid to rest Monday, September 4. May her gentle soul respect in perfect peace.
