Zimbabwe’s Opposition Party Faces Dissolution after Tsvangiri’s Death
Zimbabwe‘s main opposition party is facing a big threat of splitting up months before a historical election.
Tsvangirai’s final moments on earth was characterized by increasing public disagreement between his 3 deputies over who would succeed him as head of the Movement of Democratic Change (MDC).
Before now, the party which has a history of splitting has been trying to re-unite to fight the ZANU-PF led Emerson Mnangagwa.
Voters will go to the polls for the first time since Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe with a dictatorship fist since 1980 was ousted with military intervention. What this simply means to the political calculation in Zimbabwe is that the incumbent party (ZANU-PF) will face little or no opposition if the crisis in the opposition party persist.
