Family members, friends, and colleagues of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday as his body was brought home ahead of his final burial rites.
The actor’s remains arrived in a motorcade and made a brief stop at the palace of the Eze Arochukwu before proceeding to the family residence, where relatives and well-wishers paid their respects.
The homecoming attracted a large crowd of residents and members of the Nollywood community, who joined a solemn procession through the town in honour of the deceased actor. Many participants wore customised T-shirts bearing his image and carried photographs as a tribute to his life and career.
Among the celebrities present at the event were IK Ogbonna, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, and fashion entrepreneur Yomi Casual, all of whom came to bid farewell to their friend and colleague.
Alex Ekubo, who died last month at the age of 40 following a private battle with kidney cancer, was widely celebrated for his contributions to the Nigerian film industry. His passing sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and industry stakeholders across the country.
He is survived by his wife, parents, and siblings.
