A resident of Ifo Local Government Area in Ogun State, identified as Oluwadamilare Ewedemi, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly sexually abusing and impregnating his 21-year-old daughter five times while procuring illegal abortions for her.
The victim, whose name was withheld, lost her mother as an infant and was placed in a motherless home in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Police Nab Father, Teen Son For Possession Of Illegal Items
In 2019, her father took her to Ijebu-Ode under the pretence of guardianship.
She alleged that Ewedemi began sexually abusing her that year, and the abuse continued over several years, resulting in five pregnancies, each terminated through illegal abortions procured by the suspect.
The 21-year-old escaped her father’s residence on February 1, 2026, due to excessive harassment and took refuge in a church at Pakoto Mountain.
She reported the matter at the Ifo Police Division on March 26, 2026.
Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said operatives of the Ifo Division, under CSP Kamorudeen, acted swiftly on a tip-off to apprehend Ewedemi.
The suspect is now in police custody, and the case has been transferred to the Gender Desk for thorough investigation and prosecution.
