* A Canada based Nigerian man has been arrested, charged in a suspected hate motivated criminal harassment case.
* He made repeated assaults, threats and harassment of a neighbor and kicking the victim's dog while allegedly making anti 2SLGBTQI+ remarks.
In a Toronto neighborhood near Queen Street East and Carlaw Avenue residents once shared everyday courtesies until alleged repeated confrontations disrupted the peace where 40 year old Toronto resident originally from Nigeria, Kheiver Kayode Roberts, faces serious charges stemming from three incidents between July 1 and December 29 2025.

According to a Toronto Police Service statement published on their website the accused allegedly assaulted harassed and threatened to harm a neighbor while also kicking the victim's dog and directing anti-2SLGBTQI+ comments at the victim.
Police treated the matter as a suspected hate motivated offence with investigators from the Hate Crime Unit consulting Crown prosecutors.
The Toronto Police statement noted, 'During three incidents occurring between July 1 and December 29 2025 the accused is alleged to have assaulted, threatened to harm and harassed the victim as well as kicked the victim’s dog.
'During these incidents the accused is also alleged to have made anti 2SLGBTQI+ comments directed at the victim.' Roberts was arrested February 4 2026 after the investigation.
Charges include assault willfully causing unnecessary pain suffering or injury to an animal uttering threats and criminal harassment.
Authorities emphasized, 'This investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence by the Hate Crime Unit' adding that if convicted the court may consider hate motivation as an aggravating factor in sentencing.
Additional hate propaganda charges could follow with Attorney General consent if warranted.
