More than a year after Nigeria mourned the death of one of its most beloved comic actors, the widow of John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has made a public appeal for assistance, in a video interview with content creator, King Mitchy, to reveal the hardship facing her and her childrem.

She described nights spent in darkness, children scrambling to find somewhere to charge their phones, and the daily indignity of drawing water from a well because the bills have not been paid and the pipes have run dry.
"We fetch water from the well. Because I have not paid the house rent. And they have even cut my lights for two months now. No lights since. We have been like that. Every night we go to look for a place to charge our phones. And… It's not easy," she said.
The widow revealed that unpaid school fees have put her children at risk of being excluded from their classes.
"Right now, they can't go to school again. I can even show you the message the school sent me today," she said.
One of Mr Ibu's daughters said, "I want to thank God for my mom. She tries everything she can to feed us, to pay our school fees, to make us happy."
Mr Ibu died on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62, after a prolonged illness that had seen him lose a leg to amputation and spend long stretches in hospital.
