Daniel Nanle, a resident of Kawel community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, has recounted the tragic death of his younger sister, Larai Danjuma, who was allegedly killed by gunmen while preparing to give birth at a Primary Health Centre during Sunday's deadly attack on the community.

Nanle spoke during a condolence visit by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, who visited affected families following the attack.
According to Nanle, his sister had been rushed to the health facility after going into labour and was being attended to by medical personnel when the attackers stormed the hospital.
“My immediate sister was married to Mr Danjuma Damial. She was taken to the hospital because she was due for delivery. Unfortunately, the attackers came and killed her,” he said.
He explained that Larai had been taken into the labour room shortly after arriving at the hospital, but the gunmen allegedly invaded the facility and opened fire, killing her alongside other patients and health workers on duty.
The attack occurred late Sunday night when heavily armed assailants reportedly invaded the Kawel community while residents were asleep.
Witnesses said the gunmen also attacked the community's Primary Health Care Centre, where health workers, patients and security personnel were among those killed.
Initial casualty figures varied, but local authorities and community leaders later confirmed that at least 22 people lost their lives in the assault.
Nanle appealed to both the state and federal governments to take urgent steps to prevent further attacks on communities in the area.
“I am appealing to the state government and the Federal Government to intervene,” he said.
The latest attack has intensified concerns over the worsening security situation in Bokkos and other parts of Plateau State.
Following the incident, Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the killings and directed security agencies to intensify operations in the affected area, track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The state government also ordered emergency and humanitarian support for affected families.
Police authorities said officers deployed to the area engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to retreat, although no arrests had been announced as of the latest official update.
For many families in Kawel, however, the loss remains immeasurable.
Nanle's account of a woman killed while awaiting childbirth has become one of the most heartbreaking stories to emerge from an attack that has left an entire community mourning.
