Nigerian pastor and televangelist Dr Paul Enenche has condemned secular music and Afrobeats artists, claiming their songs are a bad influence on youths.
The Senior Pastor of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, while addressing his congregation, claimed that the genre lacks lyrical substance and explained that the impact of such songs is mostly negative.
He urged young Gospel artists to continue creating more songs that appeal to youths.
“Most of those Afrobeats are just saying rubbish.
“Smoking Indian hemp while they are singing and influencing the youths in negative ways. By the time you have this positive replacement for such garbage, your life cannot follow that direction.
“And I trust that in time to come, more of this [energetic Gospel] music will be very word-loaded to disciple you, show you steps to take, how to stay away from negative friends, how to make the right decisions and so on,” Enenche said.
