• Inspired by spiritual guidance, Tiwa emphasizes creating "need" to fuel a child's drive and dreams
Nigeria's female musician Tiwa Savage has shared heartfelt insights into how she is raising her son Jamil with strong values, even amid her own success and luxury.

The singer revealed that she makes Jamil earn things he wants, like Roblox, through household chores or good grades, while keeping weekdays free of iPad time, snacks, and candy. 'Now if he wants to buy Roblox he has to earn it by doing house chores or when he gets good grades. He is not allowed iPad, snacks or candy during the week,' she explained.
Tiwa also highlighted the importance of spiritual grounding in their routine. 'Bible study every night before bed. Thanks aunty @fenellz for introducing us to that,' she wrote, adding that Jamil is already 'a really good kid' but she remains 'intentional about setting a good foundation for him (that's real love).'
One of the most talked-about choices is her decision to have Jamil fly economy on commercial flights, even when she travels in comfort. The last time they flew commercial, he complained about neck pains and not being able to stretch his short legs, despite being with his nanny.
Tiwa stands firm on this, drawing inspiration from Pastor Awosika's words: 'Do not kill your children's dream by using your success to kill their ambition.' She believes that experiencing some lack helps children develop the passion and drive needed to pursue dreams bigger than their current reality.
