A lady recently ended things with a man she had been talking to for a while after he asked her about her “body count” during one of their conversations. According to her, the question made her feel uncomfortable and judged, so she decided to walk away from the talking stage completely. However, the man felt he did nothing wrong. He believed that asking about someone’s past relationships or sexual history is part of getting to know a potential partner and making informed decisions before committing to a relationship. What is your opinion on this?

I disagree with the guy's train of thought. Knowing her body count will only give you a headache. If the number is too high, you feel angry and uncomfortable. If it's too low or non-existent, you feel obligated to initiate her into the process as gently as you can. Knowing her body count is unnecessary. It'll just make the guy overthink things.

Why does he want to know? The information adds no value to the relationship. It'll only awaken negative emotions when the number isn't what he was expecting.
