As the presidential election approaches, the strengths of many candidates are becoming known, while its certain that some candidates cannot smell the aura of the presidency in the coming election, some candidates have proved their capacity as the day draw near.

Currently, Nigeria has over 80 political parties and more than 30 presidential candidates, the current political struggle for the supreme position of the number one citizen seems to be a tug of war between the old and the younger candidates.

Most of the campaigns have focused on highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of both categories, as the old claims that the younger generations who considered their movement as #Not too Young to run are inexperienced and lack the political exposures to handle the affairs of Africa’s Biggest nation, while the younger ones claim that the old politicians are weak, corrupt and only posses experience in stealing and corruption.

According to one of the leading candidates, Omoyele Sowore, in a recent TV program Face The Nation, he accused the old politicians of mortgaging the glory of the country, defending the issue of experience, citing Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikwe, he claimed that the past leaders who have been recognised as the best of all time had no prior experience of politics.

As the election draws near, the supporters of the #Not too young to run have been agitating for a consensus which will allow all younger aspirants come together to present a single candidate.

The percentage of the youths in the registered voters’ information revealed by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has revealed that youths of ages 18 – 35 years are 51% of the total registered voters while the adults of ages 51 – 70 are 15.22% the middle ages of 36 – 50 years are 29.97%.

The demand for coalition by the young aspirant is believed to give a seamless win to the youth representatives in the coming election. While no one can give an authoritative reason why the coalition is not working yet, many have termed it to be due to the selfish interests of the candidates.

Daily Family in an informal chat with members of the TakeITBack Movement, one of the top members of the movement revealed that many of the political parties could have been sponsored by the giant politicians to cause a disruption in the political system.

Dailyfamily gathered that it takes patience and great understanding to involve in such coalition in order not to derail from the movement’s original plan of taking Nigeria back from the corrupt politicians.

In just 37 days to the presidential elections, unlike previous elections, it is not obvious who the winner of the election could be.
