The exercise which is tagged, Operation Secure the Oil and Gas Pipelines OSOGP Nationwide was initiated to tackle the incessant operation of vandals of the nation’s pipelines and theft of oil and gas products.
Speaking of the reason for the introduction of the project, the National Chairman of HOSTCOM, Prince Mike Emuh said the decision to screen, train and engage the youths of the region on pipeline surveillance and security services was earlier reached at a national executive council meeting of HOSTCOM, attended by its national chairman, Prince Mike Emuh, national board of trustees chairman, His Royal Majesty and former governor of old Rivers State, King Alfred Diette Spiff and chairman of the oil-rich and impacted states of the region.
Charging the youth on productivity demanded from them by HOSTCOM, the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the national chairman said the cost of training and engaging the first badge of youths was huge and capital intensive.
He then charged the successful selection of youths to be disciplined, appealing to them that they should work together with youths from other regions, so as to speak with one voice, in a bid to achieve the major objective of HOSTCOM.
