The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris paid a condolence visit to the family of Cyril Nwosu, the Assistant Superintendent of Police who lost his life during the Ariaria Market Police Division attack on Thursday 21st September, 2017.
A group of IPOB members armed with Petrol bomb and other weapons attacked Ariaria Police Division, Aba last week and burnt down the police division.

The Police officers were attacked with dangerous weapons and one police vehicle and two exhibit vehicles parked at the station were also burnt down.
The attack got some of the Police officers and personnel at the division seriously injured among who was ASP Nwosu. He was admitted to the Living Word hospital where he was rushed to.
ASP Nwosu lost his life as a result of the injuries he sustained despite the efforts of the doctors to save him.
The Inspector General of Police gave a posthumous promotion to Late ASP Nwosu and promised to see the possibility of promoting his wife who is also an Inspector.

The IGP announced that the only son of the ASP would be granted a police scholarship. He described the deceased as an officer who died while serving his country.
