8 daily habit changes that will help you save money
1. Cook, avoid eating out
Many people are in the habit of frequenting restaurants and do not feel the “weight” in their wallet, but if you are one of these people and want to save money, understand that going out to eat is a superfluous expense and you can and should get rid of this whim. Cook more, do well for the mind, for your health, and for your pocket as well.
2. Do not waste food
Waste is the great enemy of the economy. Do not prepare meals in absurd amounts, prepare what is necessary for you and your family. Make a habit of eating whatever you serve on your plate, avoiding having to throw away what is left. And reapply the food that remains in the next meal.
Be aware of the expiration dates of the food you have in your home, and give priority to those who approach your maturity, so that they do not end up going to waste along with the money you spent on buying them.
3. Choose quality and economy
When you are very focused on saving money, it may end up occurring in your mind that you should always opt for the cheapest. But not quite. You must find a balance between economy and quality.
If the cheapest product is of good quality, celebrate! But if it is not, rethink before acquiring, as you may end up having problems with poor quality and having other expenses later surprises related to the damage that the product caused.
4. Have goals
Having goals will help you in the process of saving. Do you want to travel, buy an appliance, car, house? Whatever your goal, establish it. That you see the reach of that goal will give you the strength to resist the temptations to spend more than you should.
In addition, having your plans identified, you can stipulate what your savings goal is, making it easier for you to make this commitment.
5. Ask yourself
At the time of purchase, ask yourself: is this really necessary? Can I live without this item? Could I find this same product elsewhere for a lower price? Do I want to acquire this product out of vanity or out of necessity? These questions can help you decide what to take home or not.
6. Establish spending limits
I particularly have a technique that works extremely well. I never go shopping without knowing what I want to buy. I take only the money I’ll spend which avoids giving in to the temptation to take a high-priced product.
7. Pay cash, do not make debts
If there is a word that should cause us horror, this word is: plot. Instead of taking a product by splitting its value three times, how about saving that money for three months and acquiring it with the cash price and still getting that discount friend?
Plus, that product will really be yours, because as long as you’re paying, it will still be a little bit of the store as well.
In times when stability is never guaranteed, it is not smart to make multiple debts without knowing if in a few months you will still have your salary overrunning your debts or not. Of course, there are some cases that there is no escape from the parcels, such as when buying a car or house.
8. Write down your expenses
Whether in a mobile application, that old notebook or a spreadsheet in Excel, record your expenses, even those minimums, and analyze them at the end of the month. This way, you will be able to see what your biggest expenses and errors are.
Many people have no idea how much they spend monthly on food and gas, and that complicates any planning. Know your finances, from there you can improve what is bad and keep what is working well.
For these daily habits to help you save money, you need to know your reality and be aware of it. There is no way you make plans out of your reach, be realistic and responsible with your finances. Make a commitment to change your life and escape consumerist habits.
Do not take the idea that you need a current model cell phone, or some fashionable clothes to be happy, you do not need that. Your mind, your soul, your pocket, your health and our planet are grateful.
