Court arraigns man for biting off wife’s nose

A 41-year-old Adebiosu Remi, trader at Idumota area of Lagos Island has been arraigned at Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly biting off his wife’s (Bukola Kehinde, 37) nose  during a fight for wearing skimpy dress and refusal to stop government work.

Police source, Thomas reports said that the timely intervention of neighbours who rushed to the rescue of the victimized wife, saved the situation from turning bad.

Neighbours help pick the cut off nose and rushed the victim to the nearest hospital where doctors allegedly stitched the nose back.

The incident was said to have occurred on January 3, 2018 at 21 Edumare Street, Lagos Island Lagos where the couple resides.

However, the accused has been nabbed by the Adeniji Adele Police division following a complaint made by his wife, Bukola Kehinde, 37 and charged before a Tinubu Magistrate Court on a three-count charge, bordering on felony to wit, biting the complainant which caused her grievous bodily harm and threatening to kill her and pour acid on her body.

Thomas explained that the fight between the couple started after the complainant secured a job Lagos state government. He said the accused later got frustrated with the complainant new job after she began going to office in tightly fitted dresses. He later called her to join him in his trading.

Prosecutor, Thomas stated also that the complainant said her husband fought her and bite off her nose to disfigure her and stop her from continuing the ministry work. However when she wouldn’t succumb the accused promised to bath her in acid.

He further added that the offences which contravened Lagos state Criminal law, 2015, is punishable under sections 247(1), 246(a) and 232.

The accused however, pleaded guilty to count one and two of the charges and pleaded not guilty to count 3 which accused him of threatening the life of his wife.

Chief Magistrate K.B Ayeye adjourned the case till 12 February, 2018 for trial and ordered that the defendant be kept at Ikoyi Prison till the adjourned hearing.
