No fewer than four people were on Monday,  burnt to death while four others sustained injuries in an accident in Omotosho town, along Lagos/Benin expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state.

According to a source,  the lone accident happened on the popular Oluwa bridge before Ore town when the vehicle suddenly caught fire killing four of the eight people on board.

He explained that the tyre of the Toyota Hiace bus with registration number MNY 406 XA, with eight passengers suddenly burst on motion and caught fire after somersaulting.

He said four of the passengers sustained injuries but managed to escape from the car while four other people were roasted to death in the car.

It was gathered that the Toyota Hiace bus was reportedly coming from Lagos and heading towards Benin.

The source said “one of its tyres burst, causing the vehicle to summersault several times before catching fire, burning four of the occupants to death ”

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Mr Rotimi Adeleye, who confirmed the incident, said the vehicle’s tyre got damaged before it somersaulted while on the motion.

He said, ” The accident was caused as a result of overspending that is why we are appealing to the drivers to mind their speed while travelling if the speed was not much, the impact of the accident would not have been much”

He added that the victims had been taken to a hospital in Ore while the remains of the dead victims had been deposited at the morgue.
