Oyo set to establish 15,000 hectares farmland for rice
Very soon hunger and famine will be a thing of the past in Oyo state as residents will have abundant of food to feed their families.
According to Oyo State Commissioner of Agriculture, natural resources, and rural development, Prince Wole Oyewumi, the state government is set to establish a 15,000 hectares farmland for multi-million naira rice production.
The commissioner made this known today while featuring on one the BCOS programme.
The commissioner said the rice production which farm will involve over 500 indigenous farmers is in collaboration with Lagos State Government.
Prince Oyewumi said another set of over 500 indigenous farmers cultivating over 500,000 hectares of land have been empowered with all the needed facilities.
Speaking on Cocoa production, the Commissioner said Government is collaborating with Cocoa Research Institute Of Nigeria, (CRIN) and IITA for best seedlings and practice of Cocoa and Cassava Plants in the State.
