A female student of Bayero University, Kano state, from the Department of Civil Engineering, Husseina Nalado, was among the Shiite Muslims member that was allegedly killed during a clash between the Police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, otherwise known as Shiite.

The group whose activities have been banned in Kano had a clash with the police during their annual Arbaeen trek in some parts of the state, leading to the student’s death.
According to report, the Shiite members were intercepted by the police at the popular Lado overhead bridge along Zaria road in Kano metropolis.
The policemen allegedly stopped them by firing teargas and live bullets. Many sustained injuries in the incident.
The lady who died is said to be the best student in the Engineering department.
It could be recalled that Ibrahim Zakzaky, leader of the group, has been in detention since December 2015 when his followers clashed with some soldiers.
