Lagos State in conjunction with Beauty in Black Foundation provides job opportunities for over 200 Youth

The Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development in conjunction with Beauty in Black Foundation provided over 200 youths with job opportunities after the completion of a week vocational training.

The one week vocational training was held at the Ikeja Youth Center from the 27th of November to the 1st of December, 2017 with participants from different parts of Lagos.

The vocational training on organic cosmetics production was the maiden edition of Beauty In Black Foundations’ youth empowerment skill acquisition program.

On the last day of the training the participants were lectured by experts on entrepreneurship so as to train them about how they can launch into business in organic cosmetics production.

The Director Youth Development at the Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development who was represented by Mr. Saka Abdulateef (Head of Youth Programme) commended the participants’ for taking the bold step to be part of the initiative.

Mr Saka appreciated Beauty In Black Foundation for their contribution to the growth of the youth and that the Ministry of Youth and Social Development is delighted in this partnership and will continue to work with the Foundation to fully optimize the benefits of this initiative to reach other youth.

He also encouraged the participants to remain motivated to effectively utilize the wealth of opportunities available in the vocational training.

The co-founder of Beauty in Black Foundation Dr. Gabi Okafor acknowledged the leadership of the Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development for their strong political will and commitment towards the development and growth of youths in Lagos State.

He also mentioned that Beauty in Black Foundation looks forward to a continued partnership with the Ministry in conducting this training annually to help the youth realize their potential.

A total of 210 out of 220 participants that commenced the training were given certificates and Prizes were given to the most improved participant and the best participant.

A total of four participants also received the Beauty In Black Essence Award for their immense contribution to the training. The participants pleaded with the Lagos State Government to sustain and expand the vocational training to reach more Lagos State youths.

Most participants showed interest in enrolling for the advanced training to enable them set up a small scale business in cosmetic production and have solicited the support of the state government to achieve their goals.

Mr. Ezekiel Esiagwu, an entrepreneur and the CEO of Wit Zing Group Nigeria, said that his company will partner with Beauty in Black Foundation to provide advanced training to 50 most performed participants and that the best 10 candidates will be funded to set up their own business.
